Why Some People Are Hostile To Natural Medicine

Why Some People Are Hostile To Natural Medicine

My Top-Ten List of Why Some People are Hostile to Natural Medicine

Laziness

In this quick-fix, instant-gratification society some people are too lazy and too spoiled to do the actual work required to be healthy. It’s so much easier and so tempting to simply pop some pills hoping that that will somehow deliver health.

Drug Addiction

Between Coffee, Chocolate, Green Tea, Black Tea, Cola Drinks, Yerba Mate, Cigarettes and Alcohol, some people don’t go a day without some sort of stimulant drug or alcohol. For the people already addicted to these legal drugs embracing prescription or over-the-counter drugs is the natural choice.

Racism

Herbal Medicine and most of the holistic health modalities whether it is yoga, acupuncture, tai-chi, qi-gong, meditation, etc. were developed by the non-White, Non-European peoples of this world. Some people hostile to natural medicine are simply hiding a racist attitude that if something isn’t validated by a white man in a white labcoat then somehow it’s isn’t valid. I would much rather trust in the integrity of a Akan, Ibo, Mayan, Aborigine, Cree or Tibetian Bush Doctor/Traditional Healer than I would any scientist or drug company. Ironically the same scientists and drug companies that discredit the knowledge of the indigenous peoples of the world are the same ones dispatching ethnobotanists to every remote corner of the world to learn the secrets of Bush Doctors so they can patent them.

Sheep-ism

Some people are sheep and usually will only follow and seldom lead. They are not independent thinkers, and haven’t spent the time and energy needed to challenge the information being spoon-fed to them by the corporate media and the scientific community. This society is very affluent and if you don’t ask too many questions or make any trouble there are vast rewards available to you.

Unfortunately holistic health isn’t one of them. For holistic health you need to listen to you body instead of authority figures. You need to connect to nature and to some sort of spiritual core. You need to be the leader of your own life.

Snake-Oil Salesmen

As written in my article ” The Natural Health Products Hustle”, there are too many snake oil salesmen in the natural health products market making false claims and dubious products. For anyone with a natural tendency to be skeptical of natural healing this provides all the excuse they need to be hostile.

Godlessness

Some people just don’t believe. Some people don’t believe in respecting nature, in respecting their bodies, in experiencing the connectedness between all things. For unbelievers such as these they will have a challenging time suspending their negativity and disbelief towards holistic healing and thus may never benefit from it fully.

The Anti-Christ Factor

Some people do believe. What they choose to believe in are the Gods of Science and Industry. They believe in the rape and pillaging of the environment, in factory farming, in genetically modifying food, in pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Their belief system compels them to see all things natural as heresy.

Stubbornness

Like George Bush with his Iraq War and Napoleon in his Russian Campaign, some people are too stubborn to admit when they’ve made a mistake or are on the wrong side of an issue. Forsaking Natural Medicine for synthetic factory medicine was a mistake and is a mistake. There is a place in healing for high tech equipment and synthetic drugs. In my opinion those options are for emergency situations or in situations where natural therapy has failed. They just have everything ass-backwards. Natural medicine is the real medicine and Allopathic Medicine should be used as “Alternative Medicine” and treated with the degree of skepticism currently reserved for Natural Medicine by the mainstream.

Fear

Some people are afraid of nature. They are afraid of anything untamed by man. If it isn’t slickly packaged, sterile, and dead, they are afraid. If it doesn’t come with the seal of approval of the government or the scientific community they are also afraid. Their fear keeps them dis-empowered.

Factory People Need Factory Medicine?

If you have lost your individuality and become a mass-produced factory person, eating mass-produced factory food, having mass-produced factory thoughts, then perhaps only mass-produced factory medicine will resonate with you. Perhaps it’s wrong to even try to convince you to eat organically or to heal yourself holistically. Maybe you have evolved into some kind of Darwinian nightmare that can only live on synthetic pleasures.

If you find a cure for anxiety your nausea may go away.

Couldn't find an herbal for anxiety. If it is an ongoing neurophysiological problem, then I suggest your doctor. They may refer you to a Psychiatrist or Neurologist who can better diagnose and prescribe the necessary medication. Or they may send you to a Psychologist who will better diagnose you and suggest to your doctor which meds may work best. Or your doctor has had enough experience in this to diagnose and medicate you him/herself. Or you can try an alternative physician.

If it is not the way your brain normally functions then try a balanced diet. Once you get the proper nutrients in your body (try a health food store for supplements) through good foods, the anxiety will be reduced or go away completely.

Now, if you have something that you are anxious about, that is not anxiety, that is stress. And it can also stress out your stomach.

Ginger and peppermint are also very good to calm your stomach. My son's gastroenterologist recommended ginger capsules.
    Forms:
    —capsules
    —tea
    —gingerale
    —ginger candy

Celestial Seasonings makes teas that MAY be good to calm the anxiety. They also make "Grandma's TummyMint Tea" (yum).

  • Number 6 actually works. It’s similar to swimming in the ocean everyday. It’s a bit uncomfortable, but it really does help.

  • I believe in the natural therapies as they do not have the negitive side effects that the pharmacutical drugs do. I also know that the natural remedies actually correct the problems not just mask or cover up an inlaying problem or symptom. I also know that many pharmatical medicines are derived from the synthenical reproduction of a chemical structure of a natural remedie example= valarian root is a seditive herb and it is used to calm ones system with no addictive properties then the pharmatical companies take this knowledge and syntheticlly reproduce the chemical structure of this plant and create vallium a nerve prescribed drug which is addictive and also has side effects. So for me i choose to use the natural remedies that have verry little if any side effects and actually address the symptoms rather than as in the past have taken pharacutical drugs with many side effects and addictive properties. I sincerely think this is a personal choice and also this said believe people need to be educated in both to make a personal decision.

  • Binding, electric chages, magnetic therapy, depravation chambers, pressure chambers, oxygen therapy,

  • as soon as you got to five, it just got stupidly ridiculous. until then, it could at least have been considered therapeutic…

  • DVP:

Well basically you just have to let it take its course. If you leave it alone and stay optimistic (stress doesn't help when your sick), I guarentee it will go away in no time. You can however eat oranges – natural vitamin c. Bananas too (natural potassium). Also, cold showers have been proven to have health benefits because they improve circulation and have been said to boost immunity to colds and other illnesses. Or if its too chilly you can start with a warm shower and turn the water cold at the last minute. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water too.

  • ok i am currently doing cupping and it works. downside once the doctor did it to hard and it cut me.

  • The ONLY thing that can work is medical drugs and good doctor. People need mass-medication in order to get better health and better quality of live.

I? have seen that alternative therapy is crap and have no evident. How can people still relive on then ??

Most people are dumb and don´t doctors when they need help, instead they try out different herb,vitamin..bla..bla and get more sick.

  • I don't think you should put anything in your eye that has not been through proper clinical trials, so that efficacy and more importantly side effects and safety has been established.

    See your doctor.

  • I still say the best way to lower high blood pressure and to maintain healthy arteries is by taking ALISTROL.

Also, if you are suffering from Depression/Anxiety, take all natural DEPRESSIONFIGHTERS natural supplements.

  • Well, I am a Homeopath, this is the first time I have come to know about this Global College of Natural Medicine, I asked around and did some search this seems like an authentic site :- http://www.gcnm.com/

Sorry I could'nt be of much help, you can search and look for more results.

    Take Care and God Bless.
Best of luck in your studies .

  • This doctor has NOT cured HIV, AIDS or cancer, he is lying to you.

Your stomach does not need cleaning, it cleans itself naturally. I'm afraid this doctor is not really a doctor.

  • Mero:

If you want a real doctor that switched try researching doctors who lost their licenses due to gross malpractice. If that doesn't help, then see if you can get a listing of all the fraud convictions in the local court system and try searching for those names on the internet, there are bound to be a few alternative medicine "doctors" in there. If all else fails you could just ask a friend to lie to you once a week and then take a vitamin and flush a hundred bucks down the toilet.

  • “Although the treatment is a lie, the? mind/body connection can be very powerful and can sometimes produce miraculous results.”

  • Mark:

What you have to remember is that you're dealing with a bunch of people who have a very distorted view of reality. Why is it more logical to do something natural than unnatural? It's not natural for us to brush our teeth but we do so to prevent decay. Now nature does not care whether you live or die, so it often means we have to do something unnatural in order to save or prolong life. Natural does not necessarily equate to better and safer. This is the appeal to nature fallacy. All the alties use it, ad nauseam.

This comment always pisses me off, “conventional medicine treats symptoms and not the underlying cause of disease”

Couple of problems with that statement. First, it's a lie. In many cases we do treat the underlying cause, but curing the underlying cause of disease is far from the only aim of medicine. We also aim to provide symptom management, relieve pain and prolong life as much as possible when a cure cannot be found. This of course doesn't mean that we don't keep looking for a cure or don't wish to find one.

Now regardless of the limitations conventional medicine has, this still does not demonstrate efficacy of AltMed, which in most cases, ironically does nothing but treat symptoms.
Example: Despite the homoeopaths' claims to be holistic, and "treat the underlying cause of disease". They treat symptomatology by checking a vague lists of symptoms (remember they have no real diagnostic testing) and then go on to find a sugar or starch pill in there "cookbook".

If it works it isn't alternative, if it doesn't, it isn't medicine. When these people have some evidence to prove at least one of their core philosophies as being plausible and true, then we'll have a look. Until then, their claims are best ridiculed at every opportunity.

  • Dr Schuessler tissue salts are excellent for animals too……you could get it in the combination J they are inexpensive and my animals take them when they need them……..there is a book you can buy that will help guide you too.
