Headaches During Pregnancy, are They Normal. Do You Know How to Ease Your Pregnancy Headaches?

Headaches during pregnancy are very challenging as over the counter pain killers are not recommended. Read on to see what you can do to relieve the pain from your headaches during pregnancy.

First of all let’s address why some pregnant women suffer from headaches during pregnancy. Within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy the surging hormones play a part in the development of pregnancy headaches. The 40% increase in blood volume that occurs during pregnancy increases pressure within the blood vessels and this itself can cause pregnancy headaches. Headaches during the last month of pregnancy may also be caused by a condition called preeclampsia, which is associated with high blood pressure, swelling and protein in the urine.

It is normal to have headaches during pregnancy because of the above reasons plus the following:

Stress

Lack of sleep

Vomiting

Low blood sugar

Dehydration

Caffeine withdrawal

Nicotine withdrawal

Poor posture

Pregnancy related vision changes

What you can do to ease your pregnancy headaches:

Reduce stress.

Get more sleep.

Treat your early morning sickness.

Eat regularly to avoid low blood sugar levels.

Drink adequate amounts of high quality water.

Get chiropractic adjustments and advice to correct your posture.

Avoid over the counter medication especially during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Consult a homeopath or an acupuncturist for treatments to relieve your pain.

Pregnancy headaches are sometimes relieved with either hot or cold compress around your forehead and on the back of your neck.

Have someone massage your shoulders and neck during acute pregnancy headaches.

Rest in a dark room and practice deep relaxation breathing.

Relaxing in a warm bath or shower sometimes reduces the stress and tension.

The fruit mangosteen is well known to support every system in the body. It is all natural and can relieve and prevent pregnancy headaches.

You tried all the above and you still have a pregnancy headache:

At this point it would be appropriate to call your doctor or midwife for advice.

Have your eyesight checked as you may need glasses or a change in glasses.

If you experience any of these symptoms below with a headache call your physician or midwife immediately as these are signs of a severe pregnancy complication called pre-eclampsia:

Blurred vision

Right sided abdomen pain

Swollen hands and face

Sudden weight gain

Feeling very agitated or restless

  • Not that common, the sperm die about 4 days after sex and by the time your egg drops they will have all been long dead.

  • No, they usually just push on your belly to make sure the baby isn't breeched. If she was very far along, he or she may have been stripping her membranes though

  • This is really incredible! I think they should show this in more sex ed classes and things like that!

  • lol that guy is such a dickhead!

  • LOLZ!!! It took me a few second to figure out what the pic. in the begging ment LOLZ

  • jpro:

this vid was really funny…. and probably a lot more educational than the videos we had to watch in school this year :P

  • What happens is that the disease is not active, but there, and flares after the delivery. Autoimmune diseases are "triggered" and often dormant.

I have RA. It was triggered by strep throat at age 27. I probably got it at about age 23, when it was assumed I had carpal tunnels from being a pastry chef. Turns out, after having the electrical test for carpal tunnels, I didn't have carpal tunnels. I was experiencing the beginning of my RA those years back, without the full-blown symptoms I had once the strep throat came along. Now I have the full-blown RA.

Keep in mind that giving birth is a traumatic event to your body and trauma can cause an autoimmune disease. People have been triggered into RA by car accidents, believe it or not.

  • hi there, it depends on when she ovulated, it can be detected as early as 8 days after ovulation occurs, but that is dependent on the level of HCG her body is producing and this level rises quicker in some women than in others. Hcg is the hormone the pregnancy tests pick up on. The earliest possible way to find out is for her to go to the doctors and request a blood test. This should tell you both straight away.

hope it all goes how you want it to.
    xx

  • It's the Clear Blue Easy Digital with Conception Indicator. It shows approximately how long ago you conceived. If you conceived more than three weeks ago, it only shows a 3+. Give it a shot! It sounds like you are pregnant. Good luck to you!

  • HAHA!!! would have loved that in sex ed xD

  • It's different for every person. But, if you go into it saying it will be horrible, then it will. Some of my friends had a wonderful pregnancy, while others had troubles. I had some problems at the end, however when you hold that baby in your arms you completely forget and want to do it again :)

there are pros and cons. Your feet will swell, you'll feel huge, you'll be emotional, you'll have some cramps as your uterus expands, you'll have trouble sleeping, you'll be nauseous, you'll smell everything strongly…

However, when you feel your baby kick and move around inside of you, it's amazing. Plus, people will jump to do things for you, like open doors or get you something, because they don't want you to suddenly go into labor :) Also, your sex drive will go up and you'll be more sensative. Most importantly, you'll have a beautiful baby at the end.

    It's worth it.

  • Even though birth control is a wonderful thing, you have to remember that 1 little % that leave out when saying 99.9% effective..or something like that. I am not trying to make you worry, because worrying is the worst thing that you could do…just incase you are not pregnant, it will cause your period to be late…which will just give you a scare. So my best advice is to relax…keep your mind busy. This has happened to me and my girlfriend a few times. Another thing i am not sure but if you are letting him ejaculate inside of you or not??? really it is your personal business…but just for further notice, it might not be such a great idea..just because you are setting your self up for that 1% chance even more. I would suggest for the future using your birth control plus a contraceptive foam or gel. That is what my girlfriend does…they come prepackaged like a tampon and all you have to do is insert and inject the get or foam…or what have you. We use this just to be cautious to prevent any pregnancies. But please keep in mind that having the responsibility to make love to another person goes along with having responsibility to love a child. good luck to you.

hey…i am sorry for making you feel like i was insulting you by telling you about the 1%….it was not meant in that manner at all…i did not want you to feel like i was here to lecture you. I basically was just trying to say yes it is highly unlikely but there is a small chance. My sister got pregnant while she was on the pill and so did her best friend…and they both took it very responsibly…..so i guess it is just all up to God..I pray the best for you though. Honestly i really don't think that you are i am just saying always be prepared…but like some of the ladies said i am sure it is just stress. Best wishes….jason

  • of course it isnt..lmao. thats a silly question. good contrcaeption is the morning after pill or birth control

  • Public education needs to cut the? crap on making things “friendly” and just tell it like it is.

  • It all depends on how your incision is on the inside. If you are cut up and down then no you can't have a VBAc,but if you are cut on the bikini line(side to side) then yes you should be able to have a VBAC unless your doctor says otherwise.I've had 2 VBACs since having a C-section with my daughter 14yrs ago.The boys are now almost 7&9.You just have to be creful because you take the risk of rupturing. My advice is check with your OB and see what he/she says.
