Do You Know What to Eat to Lose Weight – Or What Not to Eat to Lose Weight?

Do You Know What to Eat to Lose Weight - Or What Not to Eat to Lose Weight?

Do you have the following ideas of taking diets when trying to lose weight?

*I should not eat too much carohydrates.

*I should cut out all the fats.

* I should eat less everyday.

If you want to know more about these ideas, read on.

Many people do not understand what to eat to lose weight. They think that in order to lose weight they must take extreme measures to do so. Sadly, the only thing extreme measures do in most cases is cause the person to fail. The good news is that there are simple changes you can make in your diet that will lead to weight loss in a much healthier way. A person who loses weight by eating healthy instead of taking extreme measures will most likely keep that weight off longer than a person who loses weight through extremes.

We all know that what we put in our mouths directly affects our weight, and therefore our health. If we want to lose weight the healthy way, we have to learn to eat a sensible diet with a balance of food groups such as fat, protein and carbs.

For the same reason, you must eat a balanced diet that will fill your body with the vitamins and minerals it needs. It is unwise to cut out complete food groups from our diets. This type of dieting usually does not lead to prolonged weight loss and can actually hurt our health rather than help our bodies become healthier.

With the South Beach and Atkins trends in the past several years, many potential dieters are under the assumption that in order to lose weight, they must cut out all carbohydrates. In reality, it is the type of carbohydrate you eat that makes a difference. While simple carbohydrates such as sugar and white flour can spike the body’s blood sugar levels and leave the dieter feeling lethargic, complex carbohydrates give our bodies its energy. Consuming whole grains is an excellent way to consume carbohydrates that benefit our bodies.

The same rules apply to fats. The truth about fat is that our bodies actually need it in order to survive. The key is eating good fats such as nuts, olive oil and flax seed instead of animal fats.

By doing simple things such as reading food labels before dec iding what to eat to lose weight can make a huge difference in the amount of calories a person eats in a day. Many foods have hidden calories in them that you may not even realize your are consuming them if you do not read the labels.

What to eat to lose weight is a question many of us have. There are foods that are healthier for us than others, and if eaten in moderation, can help us lose weight.

  • Very kool and helpfully I’m gonna do that it doesn’t look hard at all! (:

  • best answer I can give you, is to do less weights, and more aerobics. more running, more long term sustained things. little weight, many reps, if you choose to keep lifting weights. muscle weighs more than fat, dont forget that. so you might want to remember that just cuz the scale says one thing, doesnt mean its true. you might have lost tons of fat, and gained tons of muscle. just keep up a good attitude, drink your 8 glasses a day, (2 liters) and diet right, and dont over eat. eat just enough. if you can keep to all that, you should be ok.

  • jpro:

    i love howcast

  • NOT alfredo that's the worst sauce to have on a diet maybe a chicken salad w/ balsamic vinegar that's better or some chicken breast w/ a side of veges that's the thing u want

  • BANANA POWERRRRRR! AHAH Check out how to lose weight on my channel ladies!

  • People on diets talk about foods because they
want to find out the best healthy foods they can eat
Not everyone feels like you do… but thanks for the tips!

  • Actually, I just wanted to say that if you starve yourself you'll get a stomach illness for your entire life. Then you'll start looking TOO thin, NO boobs whatsoever, and at 5'6 you cannot even be a model. Of course you're 16 and just SOOOOOOOO smart, lmfao
Ok, fine, enough sarcasm, please don't starve yourself because you will simply end up hurting your stomach. It doesn't necessarily mean that you will gain back all the weight.
Even with starving, you will not be able to lose more than 2 pounds a week, but it's much easier to gain that weight back if you starve.
Now, eat vegetables (cooked and raw) and fruits, absolutely no sugar or anything that contains it, absolutely no junk food. Reduce your starches. Reduce rice, wheat and potato consumption. Really do try to stick to veggies and vegan foods. Try to reduce things that contain fat: cheese, milk, dairy or creams. I would suggest no more than 1000 calories a day, since you're pretty tiny, that's a good limit. Very maximum – 1200.
Drink green tea and eat some lemons to help your body burn fat (of course, I don't mean a lemon a day, more like 2 slices a day). It's possible to lose about 10 pounds each month, at least!
Oh and another one – how is your metabolism? You should be able to go to the bathroom (poop) once a day for sure! If you don't – laxatives, do NOT take more than is suggested on the bottle, in fact, one table-spoon is perfectly fine.
Now, exercise-wise – running and I would suggest lots of it. If you feel tired – run some more. And of course do weights and stretching (i.e. yoga). Exercise every single day, at least an hour each day. Make it intense and fast, while drinking lots of water, as much as you want – there's no limit. Just make sure it's not too little. (I usually go through 2 bottles).
And that's it, really. Make sure to get proper sleep.
The most important thing for you is to lose fat and you don't mind some muscle, right?
Don't worry, you can't be like a body builder.
    And have fun!
As a reward, I would suggest that you buy yourself a piece of clothing or something that you've really wanted – at the end of your journey, when you reach your goal.
Of course – don't starve yourself. And make sure your vitamin intake (Vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E) is going on, because you may become very tired with so much exercise and such gestapo diet. Good luck! :D

Oh and before I forget – register at http://www.sparkpeople.com

  • You can take a diet…..
…..and you can (better), look for a doctor who could make your metabolism faster.
    I have the oposite problem, I am 5'7 and i'm 129 lbs and i'm 17 yeras old.
I expect to be 140 lbs. But i've heard that is better just making your metabolism faster or slower.
Go for a good endocrinologist or nutricionist.
