3 Health Tips for Your Kids
The health of children is a major issue in the US and UK not only for each individual family but also for the governments. More and more children are falling prey to bad eating habits and are suffering from childhood obesity. What can be done to ensure that they don’t end up developing a huge potbelly and protect their health.
Here are 3 health tips for your kids to help them avoid obesity problems in both childhood and when they become adults.
1. Start training them early:
Training your kids on how to lead a healthy life should start early. When they are very young teach them healthy eating and lifestyle habits. Avoid putting sugary products on their soother or giving them sweet snacks and sugary drinks just for an easy life. If you train them in good health right from an early age, they would be able to make health choices for themselves when they become older.
Some parents indulge their children with unhealthy foods when they are young and then can’t understand why they won’t eat fresh fruits and vegetables when they are older. Parents should encourage children to eat healthy foods right from the start!
2. Eat as a family:
A family which eats together stays healthy together. It is common practice nowadays for parents to eat separately or in front of the television set. It is far better to sit round the table as a family so that you can ensure that they are following the healthy eating habits that you have taught them.
Eating as a family has the added advantage of each person having the opportunity to discuss their day and for you to know if there are any problems to be addressed. Share all your ups and downs!
Children also learn about social skills required for when they grow up. It has been found in the UK that a number of children entering primary school for the first time do not even know how to use a knife and fork because they are so used to eating pizza or other finger foods in front of the TV. How sad is that?
3. Be a role model for your kids:
How can you expect your kids to follow your advice if you do not practice what you preach. Practice what you preach; your kids too will follow you! Children, especially very young children imitate their parents and copy what they do. If they see you following a healthy and perfect lifestyle they will more than likely, do the same.
Keep in mind that kids, even though younger in age than you, are not fools! They see and understand more than what you think. By walking the talk and living a healthy lifestyle yourself, you will not only serve as a role model for your kids, but also improve your own health condition!
Get them involved with meal planning, preparing the meal, and cooking it with close supervision and according to their age. Teach then well and let them make healthy choices for their own lunch boxes.
Even if your kids follow any unhealthy eating habit, you can rectify it early before it turns into a bad habit!
Follow these three easy tips to ensure that your kids have the knowledge to be able to start to live healthily throughout their entire life!

Hi,
Just one suggestion…If not for yourself, do it for your 1 year old.
It's hard to make changes sometimes, but you have to look into the future and see how you will see yourself and your childs life in 5, 10, 20 years from now. You need to change the wiring in your brain, you need to create MASSIVE pain to eating fast food, junk and LOTS of pleasure to eating healthy.
If you have a car, do you put water inside the gas tank?
Hope this helps!
Well, I think killing a kid because of his shortcomings is wrong. How can you judge that the child is in 'misery.' He/she is still your child, your own flesh and blood, your own creation. How can you discard that because of the perceived inconveniences. It's kind of selfish, actually to think that children born like this (it's not their fault) should be put out of their misery just because their not worth taking care of.
Here are a few tips:
1. You MUST exercise if you want to lose weight and keep it off, so do something every day, even if it’s just a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood. Don’t say you don’t have time for exercise; you have to MAKE time. Yes, it takes time and effort, but you’re worth it, right?
2. Walk as much as you want, but don’t do cardio for more than 40 minutes at a time. If you do, you risk burning muscle instead of fat.
3. If you do strength training, use light weights and do lots of repetitions. That’ll really help you “tone up.”
4. Your diet will make you or break you. You have probably learned bad eating habits over time (most people do). That’s not your fault, but now you have to deal with it. Make a commitment to yourself to unlearn those bad habits and re-learn better habits.
5. Eat breakfast every day within an hour of getting up. People who don’t are 450% more likely to be overweight.
6. Eat six small meals or snacks per day instead of three squares per day or one big meal per day. Your body expends energy digesting your food, so eating smaller portions more often keeps your metabolism running high because you’re constantly digesting food.
7. Avoid these as much as possible:
– Trans fat (any type of partially or fully hydrogenated oil)
– High fructose corn syrup (soft drinks are LOADED with it)
– Fast food
– Junk food
– White sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes
– The deadly C’s (cookies, cakes, candy, chips, cola)
8. Build your diet around these trim-body-friendly foods:
– Nuts, any kind (almonds are best)
– Beans/Legumes
– Fresh vegetables (green is GREAT!!!)
– Dairy products (as long as they’re low-fat or non-fat)
– Eggs
– Lean meats (fish and poultry top the list)
– Olive oil
– Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta
– Fresh fruits (anything that ends in “berry” is a winner)
– Tea (green tea or black pekoe tea)
– Cold water or ice water (your body has to expend extra calories to heat it up)
9. Desserts and treats are the exception, not the rule. Having said that, however, (1) you can have a couple of pieces of chocolate every day – just don’t overdo, and (2) Allow yourself one “cheat meal” every week where you eat and drink whatever you want as long as you don’t gorge yourself. That’ll help keep you from feeling deprived and it’ll make it easier to stick with your new healthy eating plan.
Good luck!
Not meaning to be anal but some people don’t have time to go grocery shopping for natural foods every week so they settle for vitamin pills
. And vitamin pills are great actually cause some are 100% natural ingredients. It’s better to have vitamins in pill form than to not have it at all. But I agree, natural foods are the ideal and great way to go ;]. I just wanted to add that multi-vitamins are good too. Studies have shown that calcium pills are better than getting it from milk ;S
What, you must be from america for that to be on the front page. I wouldn't expect any of that, infact if a guy showed all those 9 signs, i would be scared and think he was trying to kill me. That would be so incredibly boring aswell, but i have met some guys that are like that….
I totally agree. People can be so cheap, and so rude. I hate it when people use the excuse "Well it isn't my job to pay your bills, your restaurant should pay you more." Well guess what, you leaving me a bad tip and thinking that is not going to get me any more money from my restaurant buddy. Get real, and get a little generous for cripes sake.
Oh and 20% is not a "very good tipper", that's average.
And you know what else is annoying? When people interrupt me when I go up to the table and introduce myself. "Water. With lemon." Hey. Would you like it if I interrupted you? No, so learn some manners already.
Not sure if any of you are in Sciences or studying Biology etc. But yeah, not all foods that are transgenics are bad for you. In fact, studies have shown that almost everyone, yes everyone has eaten genetically modified foods such as corn, nectarines etc. So I am hoping that if any of you are bashing modified foods have actually done your research. But I do agree, natural is a great way to go, but some cases, it’s not practical cause of seasonal issues.
nothing cant replace the unique taste that mother nature give to us naturally is always the best to chose
say No for Genetically modified foods shits iam from bulgaria and we want to eat naturaly normal food not shits
I totally agree. God’s marvelous creation good for everyone.
